“Bits” are individual abstract studies of the 8bit landscape that reflect its ever evolving content. Characters populate the landscape, but only temporarily, as they disintegrate, morph and solidify into new formations and characters.

The realm of 8bit imagery, for me, is a cycle of connections and disintegrations. The landscape and its architecture are malleable. The figures and shapes within it are constantly shifting and evolving. These works are an attempt to localize a familiar shape amidst the chaos of moving parts. The wizard character, or “sprite,” is a symbol of relative stability in a storm of color and arbitrary shape recombinations. One still frame from an endless explosion of change.

The Experience is an immersive multimedia installation located at The Hardesty Arts Center (AHHA) in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. The installation took place from Jan 2017-June 2017. I was one of a group of five lead artists each in charge of transforming our individual spaces into new environments. Giant eyes, a spaceship full of light and animations, and a giant buzzing robot head and hands awaits you in my section.
These “shapes” are based on drawings in which the line work and general composition is essentially unchanged from beginning to end. The challenge is to create works that feel balanced and in harmony with each other, despite the “automatic” quality of the process involved.

A vast city-scape of gnarled machines, fractured structures, suspended animation and a lot of spazzed out characters..
A series of illustrations that accompany an album of my solo music called The Grass Planet Museum. Each song has it’s own illustration.
